Champagne Event @ Rogues

We went for the Champagne Tasting Event at Rougues on Monday.

At the event, we sampled a total of 4 wines. Food was also served.

My Ramblings...

I was very very disappointed with the event. Firstly, we were not informed that any additional drinks will be paid separately. It was only until our drinks were served that we realised that this was not part of the event. Initially, we thought that it was just us. After a few observations, I realised that most patrons are not aware of it as well. It would have been better if there is a simple menu on the table, highlighting what is to be expected.

The whole event was like just sitting down and chatting with friends and not knowing what will happen next. The food was served at 8pm to 8.30pm, which was like after the second wine.

One thing which I was very upset of was insufficient food and bad service. There wasnt enough food to go around and there is only one chef in the kitchen preparing. The kitchen was located some distance away from the restaurant and you can see that one pathetic chef preparing all the food while there are 3 to 4 waitress looking.

The service was so bad. While the waitress was serving, her whole tray of wine glasses toppled and spilled over the place. Not once but twice!! In addition, the waitress could not be bothered to answer any queries posed by patrons.

This falls below my expectations of the place as I have heard good reviews about the events held at Rogues....

Ministry of Food

Went to Ministry of Food for the second time and tried their ramen. Looks good but not my style. The char-siew is too tough and the soup base is too bland..

Ordered a dessert to go with it.. The white stuff on top is baked mochi.. Do not really fancy their red bean dessert as it is too sweet for my liking.

My Ramblings:

No longer crave for MOF already as:
1. Their food is normal
2. Member's benefits - Members of MOF are entitled to free coffee on the house without the need of ordering anything. When I last went with my friend, both of us were full and would like a cup of coffee. When we mentioned about the member's benefits, the staff were quizzical about it. Either the free coffee are provided as a form of "perceived service" or the staff are not well trained...

Food at Raffles Place - Part 2

This is another restaurant at Republic Plaza - Isshin Japanese Restaurants.

The ambience of this place is quite good. Hence, was expecting them to at least meet or fall below Kuriya's standard.

Tried their Nabeyaki udon & Tempura set below. Well, the soup base is bland though. And the egg was so raw. The tempura wasn't great. The standard was even worse than Ichiban and they are charging close to S$20!

My Ramblings...

Will never go there again though. Pricy yet nothing great. In fact, it falls below Sushi Tei's standard. I will never forget the soup. Somehow, I still remembered that it taste herbal. They still have quite a fair share of customers though, which I am quite surprised (I have never failed a restaurant for Nabeyaki Udon).

As for service, they seemed a bit short-handed, i.e. if someone wants to leave without paying, it is highly possible since one part of the dining area is open-air.
