Entertainer Singapore 2015

OMG.. The 2015 Entertainer edition is out!

I really love this app. It is a foodie must have as there are many popular restaurants with 1 for 1 deals, such as White Rabbit, Prime Society etc. If you would like buffet deals, it includes Marriott Cafe, Senso, Carnivore and Lime Restaurant (located at ParkRoyal on Pickering Hotel). If you have a craving for desserts, there are 1 for 1 discounts for Ben & Jerry, Dunkin Donus etc.

Unlike most promotions, you can redeem more than 1 voucher at one go, capped at 3 vouchers for a group of 6.

There's also loads of deals for spa, fitness and hotel accommodation! There are loads of one for one night promotions for 4 to 5 star hotels in Middle East, Asia, Indian Ocean and Africa.

So what are you waiting for?

The 2015 Entertainer App is going at a special price of SGD 60 (original price at $75) for App and SGD 75 for the book (original price at $80)  if you purchase before 31 December 2014!

============================================================

Prime Society is one of the popular steakhouse in Singapore.
Since it is one of the participating outlets under the Entertainer App, we decided to give it a go since the main courses are 1 for 1.

We ordered a Grain Fed Rangers Valley Ribeye 300g ($70) and a Grass Fed Murray Bridge Ribeye 300g ($68).
The steak at the top is the grain fed steak

As sides are not included, we have ordered Mac and cheese ($10). I love the sprinkled cheese at the top of the macaroni cheese. Its crispy and sweet.

Appetizers and desserts were served complimentary

Overall, I love the ambience and the steak is good.
However, it is overpriced, especially if there is no 1 for 1 mains.

We chanced upon their Set Lunch menus when we were window shopping around Ion Orchard.
The restaurant is located at the 5th floor. You can either enter the restaurant via its entrance on the 4th floor and climb up a fleet of stairs or you can enter the restaurant via its entrance by the carpark.

The set lunch cost $29.80++ and it comes with salad of the day, mains, potage soup or miso soup and rice. If you top up a nominal fee, you can enjoy a dessert of the day and a cup of Nespresso coffee.

I like the ambience of the restaurant, where you can have a nice view of Shaw House and sample quality Japanese food.

If you are looking to sample Kobe beef, this is the restaurant to try! In the past, Kobe beef is not exported out of Japan. The prices of Kobe beef ranges from $68 to $188!

The Royal Mail - Part 1

This was one of the places that we wanted to try and it turns out to be a surprise find! The Royal Mail is located as Ascott Raffles Place and it it open for lunch and dinner from Monday to Saturday. It is one of the participating outlets under the Palate Membership too! This means that for 2 diners, you will enjoy 50% of the total bill (excluding drinks), provided that you order any 2 mains!

For reservations, do visit http://www.chope.co/sg/categories/restaurant/the-royal-mail!

One of our favourite is the black pepper cheese bread served prior to every meal. They are usually served warm, which makes you crave the soft and cheesy bun once you have finished it!

A welcome appetizer is served, which is likely to be different.

We ordered two starters, Sous-vide Half Maine Lobster ($24) and Pan Seared Foie Gras ($24) as we wanted to try a variety of dishes since this is our very first visit to the restaurant.

As for mains, we ordered Roast Prime Rib - Classic Cut ($58) and Kurobuta Pork Chop ($48).

=======================================================

Tea Lounge is one of the most popular high tea buffet places in Singapore.
The high tea buffet is served during weekends only. There are two seatings available, i.e. 12pm to 2.30pm for the first seating and 3pm to 5.30pm for the second seating.

After hearing so many reviews, I have to give it a try! It cost $58++ per person.
There are few key highlights that I love:

  • Roast wagyu rump with yorkshire pudding.
  • Asian Corner (i.e. laksa, satay, yam cake etc)
  • Cakes (especially the rainbow cake with cream cheese!)

And of course, lots of sandwiches, smoked salmon and scones with free flow of coffee and tea. You can select any 2 beverage type, i.e. coffee, tea or hot chocolate. For coffee, it is unlimited servings. However, if you decide to switch to tea midway, you cant order coffee again.

Will I come back again?

I will definitely be back again! The only downside is that they only have their buffet on weekends only. Ambience is great and its definitely the place to book for an afternoon out with the girls!

Alive Museum Museum (AMS)

I have heard many reviews about Alive Museum in recent weeks but have yet to visit the museum. So, when the opportunity arose, I jumped at the chance!

Alive Museum is the original 3D visual illusion museum from South Korea. Aside from the 8 branches in Korea, it can be found in China, Thailand, Vietnam, Turkey, and of course Singapore! Alive Museum is located in Suntec City Mall (between Towers 3 and 4).

Details are as follows:
Opening hours: 10am to 10pm
Ticket Prices: $25 (Adult) $20 (Children 3-12yrs)

From now till September 2014, you will get a free Burger Meal if you "Like" Alive Museum Singapore (AMS) and purchase a full price ticket! For more details on this promotion, visit http://alivemuseum.sg/news-events/promotions/.
What do I like about AMS?
  1. It has Pose Point and Photo Point icons at each art exhibit. If you have run out of imagination, just follow the Pose Point suggestion! And if you are not too sure where is the optimal spot to take a photograph, just find the Photo Point!
  2. It's worth a return visit as 30% of the exhibits will be refreshed every year and there are special exhibits held during major holiday seasons!
  3. Free wifi, which allow you to post all the pictures on Facebook immediately

==================================================
This is one of the participating restaurants under the Palate Card.
In order to be entitled to 50% discount, you will need to order 2 main courses and 2 diners.

We were excited to try out as this is a popular dim sum restaurant.
It has a nice fine dining ambience.

However, it not meet my expectations as I was expecting a finer touch to the dim sum. The skin of the dim sum is rather thick. There is no wow factor..

For dim sum, we ordered some of the specialties, i.e.

  • Scallop dumpling with dragonfruit in salted egg yolk sauce
  • Baked Abalone Tart
  • Custard Bun

Lunch like the locals

A sunny afternoon calls for a picnic during lunch and maybe a round of table tennis!

Weather is an important topic in London as the weather can change drastically during the day. It is important to be prepared in all occasions and enjoy when the weather is great!

Breakfast at the Wolseley

Having breakfast at The Wolseley is the must do item in London. This was once a car showroom for Wolseley Motors.

A.A Gill wrote a book, Breakfast at The Wolseley, which contains recipes for all the breakfast items. You can purchase this book at the restaurant.

I have ordered mixed basket of mini pastries, consisting of croissant, pain au chocolat, danish, amandine, pain sucre au beurre normand, channle bordelais.

Ambience was nice. However, I felt I should order something hot and a slightly bigger portion. Maybe like an English breakfast...

I love the coffee and milk pot. The design is very practical, don't you think?

English Breakfast

A typical English breakfast would include eggs, sausages, bacon, grilled tomatoes, grilled mushrooms and of course black pudding.
What's black pudding? Black pudding is made from pig blood and oatmeal. Taste earthy...

Sunday Roast

Sunday roast is a traditional British dish that was served on Sundays.
I came across this pub called The Wellington at Strand Street in London. The roast beef was paired with honey glazed parsnips, Chantenay carrots, homemade roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding.
I am happy to try this Sunday specialty but this is a huge dish for someone with a small appetite. I had to forego some of the potatoes (which are soft and fluffy) in order to finish the roast beef.
