Ambush Pasta @ Takashimaya B2 Foodcourt

Ran a few errands last Saturday. Dear brought me to this pasta place to try.

We ordered two main courses. Dear upgraded his set to a soup plus bread, while I upgraded mine with drink plus dessert. Nice complement though cuz we can have a bit of everything....

This place is called Ambush. They serve pasta and sausages.

Dear's minestrone soup

We ordered the same dish - Japanese Baby Scallop with Nori Linguini. It was good and typical Japanese pasta (which I loved).

Dessert - Brownie

My Ramblings:

A good place for Japanese pasta. The dessert was a bit disappointing as it is too simple. Just a chocolate cake doused with fudge. Could not experience any ormph feeling.

Heard their tiramisu was good. Can't comment much until I tried it for myself.

Nevertheless, pretty good place to go to. This is a self-service place and hence cannot comment much on their service level.

KL Trip 2008

Went for my boss's wedding in KL a few weekends ago. Overall, the experience was very interesting.

Took a couple of pictures whilst we were in KL.

This is soooo delicious. It's a Nasi Briyani set meal for 2 people. There's chicken, mutton, potatoes, and fried dried chilli). Quite delicious and worth it. This was located at the basement of Sunway shopping centre. Went there for lunch whilst waiting for check in...

On the second day, we went to attend the wedding ceromany and I cant help but took some pictures of the food for the groom & bridesman... What's interesting is the plate of black little things on the plate.. Those are cicadas. Gosh..

Went to have dinner at Wendy's before we board our bus to Malaysia. Ordered a set to try. I heard they used to have an outlet in Singapore Changi Aiport in the 1980s but closed down. They are famous fast food joint in the US and are famous for the beef burgers.

Due to my religion, I ordered the chicken burger instead. It was so good. The bread is very fluffy and distict.

This is how it looks like...

And of course, what will a KL trip if there is no corn? Hee... with lots of sugar and margarine....

Dinner @ TWG Tea

The quality of the pictures deterioated as I have lent my brother the camera for his Aus trip. Well, my phone is only a 3.2 mega pixel.... I miss my camera....

This is the setting of the table...

Ordered the Sandwiches set. They have their top favourites - crab sandwich, prawn sandwich, foie gras sandwich and salmon sandwich. I loved the prawns one though. The foie gras sandwich is a bit too rich and creamy...

The dessert that I ordered. A bit disappointing for me. The last cake that I had was too good for comparison. I had the Singapore surprise - looks simple but is sooooo goood.

My Ramblings..

The other time I complained about their inflexibility. This time round, I am impressed. We ordered slightly past the order and they were happy to take our order and waited for us to finish till 9pm.

They even bothered to introduce their products for us. Wow...

Somehow I loved this place - esp their tea since they have so many varieties and I can try to my heart's content. Ordered the Royal Orchid Tea today. Quite a good one I must say.

For the dessert, I loved their Singapore Surprise - the cake in my last entry on TWG Tea.

Ambience is good. Definitely a place for destressing...

Okie... Time to sleep liao.. I am going to Malaysia tomorrow...

More food to be posted.....

Canele Patisserie

I always feel that Canele is overated. This is like my third or fourth time there and I am still not impressed. This will be last visit.

It all started with my friend recommending me this particular cake - with nutella content. I still remember how disappointed I was. Still prefer Marmalade Pantry's nutella cupcake. At least it has a thick slab of nutella on top.

Ordered the Croque Madame - Home made bread baked with ham, swiss gruyere cheese and sunny side up.

This is Chocolate Classico. The cake was soooo dry. The only thing that I liked about this place is the white slab of cream beside the cake.

Oh. And I ordered Rose Tea. The tea was so light that the colour was still white.

My Ramblings...

Disappointed is the word. The food was nothing fantastic. Although I quite like the christmas tree with chocolate bulbs item. But, beside selling pretty design stuff, I do not really crave for their food.

I used to go Canele to have tea. But, after yesterday, I decided this will be the last time. The rose tea was colourless and had a faint smell. It seems like water lor.

Service was bad. I literally had to wave and wave to get the necessary attention.

Well, maybe it's the preceived brand that attracted people there... Yes, it's the brand. I am not going there again.

TCC Dinner

Ordered this dish after a very stressful day at work.

This is one of my favourite dish at TCC because of the half-done salmon and the pasta sauce. It's called Mentaiko Spaghetti with Salmon Tataki. Quite jappy kind of taste.

Ended the dinner by purchasing a Strawberry Shortcake. A bit disappointed though. Do not really like the custard.

My Ramblings...

Have always been a happy patron at TCC. I loved the variety of food that they served. Interesting dishes yet delicious and appealing - which is a fine balance to achieve.

Somehow, sipping a cup of coffee after a delicious meal is very appealing to me. I have always tell myself that one of these days, I shall order the blue mountain coffee at TCC. It's like the best grade of coffee there. No guts to do so as $15 is a bit too indulgent for a cup of coffee.... Wait till I have that Cookie Museum mood.. Maybe...

Ah Yat

This place is called Ah Yat restaurant and is located at Allson Hotel. The set meal cost about 60+++ per meal.. Their cheapest delicacy set menu with abalone and buddha jump over the wall. There are set meals at 198++ etc. Am contented with this.

Buddha jump over the wall (Most places require orders to be placed in advance. Here, this is available anyday!)

Abalone & Goose web

Same as above. Difference lies in the abalone. We upgraded one of the sets to Mexico abalone. This is worth the upgrade can.. Tangy and at every mouthful, you can yourself chewing each layer of the abalone... (by the way, this place specialises in delicacy. you can find abalone worth 500 and above here as well. I am contented with my set though.)

Vegetables - I do not like this type though. The stalks are thick and bitter. I am just not into vegetables....

My Ramblings...

This has always been my all-time favourite. Pretty reasonable price for a decent set of delicacy. Am looking forward to my next visit....

Pen Cai

I was looking through the pictures in my phone and I found this...

I have always wanted to try this dish called pen cai, which is available during Chinese New Year. This is a dish where the ingredients are placed in layers. Remember reading somewhere that the layers are arranged in relation to the ingredients used for the dish.

For this new year, I wanted to try this long-awaited dish. Prices ranges from 188 and above. For the cheaper sets, roast meat is typically used instead of delicacies.

And so, the both of us went on this sinful indulgence at Goodwood Hotel Min Jiang. It cost about 388 and it can feed about 6 person or so. Advance booking is required. We finished everything with a bowl of rice, topped up with dessert. .

Interesting to try but it is very expensive. Would never spend that kind of money again. I will put it to better use. Pain...
